16 WCARS – Day 2

Welcome to the state of the art! Day 2 of the World Continuous Auditing & Reporting Symposium began with an impressive implementation of continuous auditing at Unibanco with insight from IBM Brazil. Heated discussion of XBRL assurance and a look at auditing queries wrapped up the first session.

This slideshow is from the opening address by Miklos Vasarhelyi at the 16th WCARS.

The discussion was timely and insightful between academics, internal and external audit professionals, and vendors of continuous auditing/continuous monitoring platforms. How can external auditors rely more on internal audit work? Where are leading organizations in the Audit Maturity Model? These and other important topics were discussed in depth. Professional articipants included representatives from Procter & Gamble, HP, MetLife, KPMG, Ernst & Young, Deloitte, PricewaterhouseCoopers, Caseware IDEA, Approva, Reliant Solutions, ACL Services, Oversight, and more. Videos will be available on YouTube shortly.

Here at Rutgers we’re always thrilled to be on the leading edge of audit research. With the advances in continuous auditing and reporting, the increasing adoption of XBRL, and adoption of new auditing techniques by leading organizations, our researchers are as busy as ever. Thanks to KPMG for their continued support of the Continuous Auditing and Reporting Lab at Rutgers University.
